Social Justice Response

Apparently reeling from the ending of a teen romance, a male student chose to punctuate his response with a gun, taken from his unaware father. Early one morning, finding his past flame in a school hallway, the teen opened fire, killing the young lady and wounding another student with the same bullet. Unlike the Parkland, Florida tragedy, upon hearing the first shots, an armed school resource officer responded rapidly, encountered the gunman, exchanging fire. At that point, we’re told, the young gunman took his own life. Threat successfully terminated. By the on-site officer’s quick and determined action, further potential bloodshed among students and faculty was prevented. A stark, timely example of an armed young man bent on social revenge. In this case, social justice was quickly applied, thanks to the rapid response of a good guy with a gun. (March 25, 2018)
