Third Infantry Division’s 1st Armored Brigade Soldiers Return
Earlier this week, several hundred Fort Stewart/3ID soldiers with the 1st Armored Brigade were the first to return, by air, to Hunter Army Airfield, before motoring on to Fort Stewart to greet family members. This after a hastily-begun five-month deployment to Germany. Hasty, because the call to deploy came rapidly after the start of the sudden Russian invasion of Afghanistan, back in late February. The remainder of the total of 3,800+ 1st Brigade soldiers are due to return sequentially by the end of August.
Our 3ID troops were sent to Germany “to train alongside NATO allies in a show of force intended to deter further Russian aggression in Europe.” Fort Hood’s 3rd Armored Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, is now deploying to replace the soldiers from Fort Stewart. Welcome home to our great 1st Brigade soldiers !!
