Third Infantry Division Change of Command June 3, 2019

Fort Stewart’s Cottrell Field was the setting for the Division Change of Command, passing from MG Lee Quintas, Jr. to MG Tony Aguto, Jr.  Officiating at the ceremony was Forscom Commanding General Michael Garrett from Fort Bragg.

The ceremony was witnessed by a full complement of guests in the stands, including several retired Army Generals (among them, LTG(ret) William Glenn Webster, former 3rd ID CG), and several hundred “Dog Face” soldiers in formation on the field, under challenging heat and humidity.

MG Quintas concluded his remarks as the departing CG with a statement used by senior leaders in the past, bringing it all back to their prideful core identity.  Said the General: “My name is Quintas.  I’m an American soldier.”  MG Quintas moves up to the position of Deputy Commanding General with Forscom at Fort Bragg, and with an upcoming promotion to Lieutenant-General.

Fort Stewart Senior Garrison Commander, COL Jason Wolters, and Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, LTC Ken Dwyer (Silver Star Recipient & Green Beret) will also both be changing out their commands in the near future.  LTC Dwyer will be promoted to Operations Director for the Special Forces Training School at Fort Bragg, the home of U.S. Army Special Forces.
