Bonkers, Blather, Blunders, & Buffoons #1

Welcoming “Buffoons” to our title cluster. Upgrading from Triple B to Quad B, for no particular reason, or maybe there was. Somehow, the timing seemed right.

Leading off, Representative IIlan Omar reportedly said in a tweet: “We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.  We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the United States, Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.”  She equates supposed “unthinkable atrocities” committed, says she, by America, with Hamas and the Taliban! She apparently was alleging unspecified ‘war crimes’ committed by U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan.  Yes, there are crimes in war, in this case a twenty-year conflict, with any such allegedly committed by Americans made known, and dealt with, by our authorities here.  Her assertion against Israel comes from her instinctive political/religious hatred for that great nation, our only genuine, lasting ally in that region.  So that claim is pure prejudice.  But to compare her adopted homeland, the nation that took her in, and proved beyond question, in her case especially, that any legal immigrant can succeed, to compare our great nation to such murderous organizations like Hamas and the Taliban, goes way beyond acceptable reason and truth.  She seems not to realize it, but she owes America thanks and praise, big time, for her well-being and freedom. Freedom, in this case, to speak foolishness. Her comparison to such ‘atrocious’ regimes is shameful, selfish, and completely unacceptable, no matter the premise.  She later ‘clarified’ her statement, but too late to erase the negative impact.  By the way, and pretty sure unrelated, in case you missed it, just coincidentally, the word buffoon was added to the series title.

Moving on to VP Harris who recently stepped twice into fresh dog squat.  The first occurred just prior to Memorial Day weekend, when she tweeted to all to “Enjoy the long weekend,” along with a picture of herself.  No thought or word about the sacrifices of so many American military men and women, with lives given to help maintain our freedom and way of life in this great, independent, and blessed nation. While ‘enjoyment’ is certainly a part of any long holiday weekend in America, the primary focus of Memorial Day should always be, not bar-be-que, but remembrance; remembrance of lives lost in combat to keep or restore liberty. After getting grief for her lack of proper focus, she ‘clarified,’ but, again, much too late.

Then, following her questionably-successful diplomatic trip to Guatemala, during which the Guatemalan President correctly blamed the U.S. southern border chaos on the Biden administration, VP Harris (who partially blamed ‘climate change’ for the migration mess!), when pressed by reporters for an answer on when she would visit our southern border, now over two-months after being assigned to do so and attempt to solve the crisis, her reply for not going there yet was that she “hadn’t been to Europe (either),” seemingly a flippant response to a very serious question and catastrophic illegal migrant situation.  “We’ve been to the border,” she insisted.  Yes, but the point was, and continues to be, she hasn’t yet. Responsibility side-stepped.

New York Times board member and MSNBC contributor Mara Gay, a black liberal, said that she was “disturbed,” while traveling on Long Island (NY) one day, to see “dozens of American flags” flown on trucks which, assumedly, were driven by Trump supporters. “The reality here,” said she, “is that we have a large percentage of the American population – I don’t know how big it is, but we have tens of millions of Trump voters who continue to believe that their rights as citizens are under threat by simple virtue of having to share the democracy with others.  I think as long as they see Americanness as the same as whiteness, this is going to continue.” Certainly, a pity that American citizen, Ms. Gay, was disturbed by the sight of so many American flags. You’ll recall that time of trauma, right after 9-11, when the sight of American flags everywhere provided a welcome sense of comfort and patriotism for all we citizens of an attacked and worried nation.  For patriots, it still feels good to see our nation’s flag, no matter the time, place, or reason. And shame on her, and others of her ilk, for continuing to beat the worn-out ‘whiteness’ drum.  When it comes to our beautiful flag, representing our great nation, skin color has zero relevance.

Well, it didn’t take long for reactions to erupt regarding Ms. Gay’s “disturbed” feelings. Responded black civil rights attorney and Fox News contributor Leo Terrell: “That’s what liberals and progressives do.  People are responding in outrage, including myself, regarding her attack on the Americna flag.  She doesn’t get a pass because she is black. The right of expression works both ways and she should not hide behind her race. When liberals and progressives have no argument, they resort to the race card in an effort to turn down the heat.”  Then it was the turn of Fox News contributor Deroy Murdock to respond.  And he did. “Mara Gay is old enough to know the difference between the American flag and the Confederate flag. Tens of thousands of black patriots have died in battle to defend the Stas and Stripes. What a shame she doesn’t appreciate this. If the American flag makes her so sick, she should move to another country where she won’t have to see it.”  Mr. Murdock then went on to offer to buy her a one-way plane ticket to her choice of another country that would make her happier than being in the United States!

Prior to Memorial Day, a team from conservative organization, Campus Reform, went to the Georgetown University campus in Washington, D.C. to speak with a sampling of students about Memorial Day.  And this will give you a sense of what’s being taught these days and the damage it’s doing to young Americans who won’t have these errant notions corrected by concerned family or friends at home. Students were asked to sign a fake petition calling for the cancellation of Memorial Day because “it glorifies American imperialism.”  One male student who signed it said: “I didn’t really think in this way until I went to college, and I took women’s and gender studies classes and that put me on this path where I’m like, ‘yeah, (expletive) the US.” There is one lost scary soul destined for a life of resentment, until (and if) reality smacks him upside the head.  And, by the way, that’s another stellar reason never to take classes or a major, heaven forbid, with the title ending in “Studies.” Successful real world employment prospects = zero.

One woman responded that Memorial Day “represents a lot of negative aspects of America and highlights something that people shouldn’t necessarily be proud of.”  Oh, yes, defending freedom is nothing to be proud of, say young people who have absolutely no clue as to why and how they have the privilege of living and “learning” in this great free nation.  Fortunately, aside from these lib-indoctrinated students, there are young men and women today who understand real American history and who appreciate the freedom that men and women of courage have fought to insure for them.  We see outstanding caliber each year demonstrated, among other quality-seeking venues, by the outstanding young people who apply for Congressional appointments to one of America’s four, top-flight service academies (Army-Navy-Air Force-Merchant Marine).

Finally, two examples from out beyond the earth’s atmosphere.  Hollywood person Cynthia Nixon reportedly actually suggested, via tweet, from lib-land that, paraphrasing now, people who cannot afford basic necessity items and resort to stealing them out of desperation, should not be prosecuted. Comforting thought, a brand-new citizen ‘right,’ the ‘right of theft.’  Cute, but still quite illegal. For people in need, we now have, as elites may not recall, multiple social safety nets, to include in this case, of course, food stamps!!

And then CNN’s Anderson Cooper is actually said to have proclaimed, and it was reportedly repeated, via tweet, by his colleague Brian Stelter, that the January 6 (2021) Capitol riot was “the worst single act of political violence since the Civil War.”  Apparently, Pearl Harbor wasn’t taught back in Mr. Cooper’s American history classes, nor did he apparently remember living through the 9-11 Attack on America, our second Pearl Harbor. Violence on January 6th?  Suppose you could stretch and reach that conclusion, although you’ll recall there were no assault weapons ever found, and the only directly-related death, a tragic one, was a civilian woman shot, apparently, by a Capitol security officer.  By way of comparison, it’s now estimated that as many as 750,000 soldiers died in America’s Civil War (plus untold numbers of civilians), the deadliest conflict, by far, in American history. Forgetting about Pearl Harbor and 9-11, not to mention deaths from domestic racial instances and conflicts in decades past, is simply not forgivable for a news commentator in the public eye. His comparative was as far from being true as is the total distance of the earth’s circumference.

ADDENDUM:  With great irony, a Hamas spokesman has now complained about Representative Omar lumping in his Palestinian militant group with America and Israel!  Said he: “She equated the resistance of the Palestinian people on the one hand, (with) the crimes of the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the American aggression in Afghanistan on the other.”  So, Hamas = Good; Israel & U.S. = Bad!   (Fox News.com, Morgan Phillips, 6-12-21)
