Bonkers, Blather, and Blunders #5

Bonkers, Blather, and Blunders #5

U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, when asked about the recent Colonial Pipeline shut-down and its impact on gasoline availability and price hikes, responded: “Yeah, I mean, we obviously are all in on making sure that we meet the President’s goals of getting to 100 percent clean electricity by 2035 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.  And, you know, if you drive an electric car, this would not be affecting you, clearly.”  Well, Madam Secretary, the key here is the “if.”  Fact is, currently, less than 2% of all U.S. vehicles are electric, and ownership is projected to only hit 10% by 2025.  And that’s aided by federal tax incentives.  Senator Lindsey Graham responded to her statement, concentrating on electric cars rather than on the far larger issue of the cyberattack that caused the pipeline to shut down!  Said he: “That was the dumbest thing in the world.  What if they take down the power company, the power unit you plug your car into?  They (administration) don’t understand prevention.  He (Biden) should be saying we’re going to prevent this in the future, we’re going to have a national strategy to upgrade cybersecurity for critical infrastructure like financial services and energy.”

The principal electric vehicle draw-back, of course, is travel distance.  Perhaps fine for in-town only.  But a pain in your undercarriage for distance travel due to the limits on battery storage. And nobody’s talking about the need for a gazillion charging stations throughout the nation.  Plus, the time a charge takes, especially if you’re actually on the road.  And no one has yet addressed the true need for a massive increase in electric power delivery (and cost) required to charge these puppies, especially at home.  Solar and wind power won’t be nearly enough to handle the demand, which brings us, as always, right back to the continued need for fossil fuel power generation, like it or not.  The 2035/2050 “goals” for reduced and carbon-free emissions are but pipe dreams.  The fossils (fuels, not leaders) will be with us for many, many years to come!

And speaking of fossil fuel pipelines, on Day One, you’ll recall, among the literal mound of executive orders he signed in front of news cameras, was the one cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline (running from Alberta, Canada to refineries in Illinois and Texas).  In another nation-harming action that day, he also stopped construction on the all-important, nation-securing, southern border wall!  Appearing before a House Committee, in response to a question about the “carbon-delivery efficiency” of pipelines vs. trains & trucks, administration ‘Climate Czar’ John Kerry admitted that pipelines are the most efficient means of delivery, seemingly contradicting Mr. Biden’s master stroke of shutting down Keystone, by so doing eliminating a fuel source from a near-neighbor ally vs. the perhaps inevitability of America becoming no longer energy independent and at the mercy of future fuel delivery from enemy nation sources.

Shifting to the absurd, CNN’s Chris Cuomo reportedly stated that police reform in America will not happen until “white people’s kids start getting killed.”  How foolish.  As if white parents are just fine with street violence and blacks being killed, rather than being behind reasonable reform, where and if truly needed, in order to protect black children, and all races, in general. Then there’s a Texas county Democrat Party chair who, following the rebuttal to Mr. Biden’s State of the Union speech, delivered by Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), reportedly referred to Senator Scott as an “oreo,” a derogatory term used to describe a black individual thought to be black on the outside, but white within, like the famous cookie.  Texas Republican Congressman Pat Fallon responded that the “comment against Senator Scott is abhorrent, insulting, and unforgiveable.  He (and the entire county Democrat Party) should be ashamed of this racist behavior.”

And keeping the absurdities bus running at full speed, New York City schools have dumped the Columbus Day holiday in favor of “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.”  Christopher Columbus, you see, is apparently considered by our elitist ‘woke’ society to have been a ‘racist’ or an ‘oppressor,’ despite his landing here in the New World over 500-years ago.  But the centuries mean nothing when the hunt is on for alleged oppressors!  Expect no forgiveness, forever, from the party of ‘caring.’ And who, then, were the most offended by the ungracious and behind closed doors Columbus Day dump decision?  Italian-Americans!  Said NYC Councilman Joe Borelli: “There’s nothing wrong with celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day, but doing so at the expense of a day that celebrates Italian-American culture and history is downright insulting.  Doing it under the radar only adds to the cowardice now regularly on display by the woke left.”

Yet another absurdity: Climate change as a supposed reason for the flood of illegal migrants crossing into the United States.  This is on Mrs. Harris’ list of reasons for what we all know has quickly become an absolute border disaster.  Yep, climate change as culprit!  As she discussed the “root causes of migration,” she referred to “corruption, violence, and poverty, (plus) the lack of climate adaptation and climate resilience,” whatever those two terms mean in real life!  Yep, let’s not actually do anything effective right now to stop the migrant invasion.  Instead, let’s solve the invented ‘crisis’ of climate first, an issue that’s been with the planet for hundreds of years.  Diversion with inaction; there, that’s the solution.

And wrapping up the absurd streak for this edition of Triple B’s, one of the morning hosts on MSNBC reportedly referred to the GOP has having “all the evidence of a serious cult,” during its association with former President Trump.  If a cult is millions of patriotic Americans genuinely caring about the present and future of our country, not only domestically, but internationally, as well, then guilty by association!  The “cult” reference like the rest of the blather from the liberal cable folks is ridiculous.  Meanwhile, a guest on an MSNBC panel discussion likened the Republican Party to the very worst of the world’s terrorists when he reportedly said: “You know Al Qaeda, Usama bin Laden, and the Taliban, the people who wanted to do harm to our nation and to our way of life and our democracy, they got nothing on what this Republican Party is doing.”  Oh, please.  If anyone is planning and doing permanent harm to “our nation, our way of life, and our democracy,” it’s the elitist progressives who are encouraging (by not stopping) the flood of illegals entering our country, with tremendous negative social and economic impacts lasting well into the future; by not effectively suppressing and ending the rampant street violence in Democrat-led cities; carelessly and callously spending the nation into future bankruptcy; courting our current enemies; and encouraging a larger and larger federal government, all of which threatens the security and the liberty of our citizens.  Those are the people and forces that are working hard to change the very composition, structure, culture, and freedom of our great nation.
