Hunter Army Airfield’s Fall Hiring Fair for Soldiers & Spouses
Today (September 20, 2018), HAAF hosted its Fall Hiring Fair at the Hunter Club on Post. Over 50 area employers were on-site to interview prospective employees, going from soldiers beginning the transition to civilian careers, to Army spouses hoping to secure shorter-term employment while their uniformed spouse serves here at Hunter.
Employers present included: Gulfstream, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, Savannah Chatham Public Schools, Lowe’s, Nine Line Apparel, International Paper, Chatham County & Savannah Police Departments, Marietta Police Department, Customs & Border Patrol, and many others.
This Hiring Fair is a cooperative effort of the Army Community Services unit at Hunter, and Hunter’s “Soldier for Life” program. Hunter Garrison Commander, LTC Ken Dwyer, welcomed all of the employer exhibitors at the start of the Fair and thanked them for their commitment to interviewing (and hopefully hiring) transitioning soldiers, along with Army spouses seeking work as well.
Taking advantage of this unique chance to meet with employers face to face right there on Post, over 150 service members and spouses had pre-registered for the Hiring Fair, with the likelihood that many others will walk-in during the session and be welcomed as well.
