3CAB Pre-Deployment Colors Casing Ceremony
This past Friday (9/13), the 3rd Infantry Division’s Combat Aviation Brigade (“Marne Air”) cased its colors at a morning ceremony on Hunter Army Airfield. Portions of the Brigade’s battalions will soon be deploying to Afghanistan, as well as to several countries in Eastern Europe.
The deployment process was delayed somewhat due to the threat of Hurricane DORIAN, which forced the unit to briefly evacuate its aircraft across state to Fort Benning for safety, as the City was under a mandatory evacuation order. Fortunately, the hurricane passed by east of Savannah, with only moderately elevated winds, very little rain, and no reported damage, in the city or at the Hunter airfield.
Officiating at the ceremony was 3rd I.D. Commander, Major-General Tony Aguto, Jr., who reviewed for those attending the Brigade’s rigorous preparatory training schedule over this past year, expressing full confidence in its capability to excel in whatever upcoming missions the Brigade may be assigned during this multi-nation deployment.
The ceremony concluded, as do all such with the 3rd I.D., with Brigade soldiers, their gathered families, and supportive area civilians in attendance, singing the Division Song and The Army Song. Wishing our CAB a safe and successful duty-time away.
